On September 10, 2024 the way you send mandatory emails will change.

In order to continue sending mandatory messages you need make updates in your account on or after September 10, 2024 as described below.

Only account administrators can make these changes.

For account admins and power-users, here's a detailed explanation video and instructions to prepare for the changes. This video is helpful to understand the full scope of the changes and review all scenarios as you prepare for the changes on September 10. Two shorter videos and text-based help is available on the page below, which is sufficient for most users.

1) Designate existing contacts as mandatory message recipients

After the product update instead of designating individual emails as mandatory, contacts will have to be marked as mandatory content recipients. Each contact will have two separate consent fields: opt-in and mandatory.

You need to update contacts who need to receive mandatory content:

  1. Select all contacts who need to receive mandatory messages

  2. Click the Update mandatory consent button

  3. Select the Enable option

The update can take up to 10 minutes to be processed. You can confirm contacts are marked as mandatory content recipients from the Database Overview page.

2) Enter the reason why contacts need to receive mandatory messages

Currently the description for sending a mandatory messages needs to be entered each time you send a message.

After the product update this description will become an account level setting, which means you will only need to enter it once; it will automatically apply to all mandatory messages sent from your account.

In the Mandatory content section of your account settings page enter the reason why contacts need to receive mandatory messages from you and click Save.

3) Adding new contacts who need to receive mandatory emails

You have two options to ensure new contacts who are added to your account are designated as mandatory consent recipients.

Option 1: If everyone in your account should always receive mandatory messages then you should enable the "Apply mandatory consent to newly created contacts" setting on the account setting page. This will ensure that every new contact will automatically be designated as a mandatory content recipient.

Option 2: If only some of newly added contacts should receive mandatory messages then, as you import contacts, you need to designate them as mandatory content recipients during the import process.

If you're adding contacts using the APIs or the universal CSV sync option, please reach out to Envoke support via chat for instructions on how to update your API requests and CSV file format so contacts are added as mandatory message recipients.
